Healthy & Nutritious ~ Brown Rice

Wheat remains one of the primary staple grains in the United States, and the glycemic load of processed wheat is a likely contributor to America's obesity epidemic. Rice contains considerably less fat, making it a superior source of carbohydrates. Rice-based diets have been used historically to address a number of medical conditions, and have gained some popularity as a means to help lose weight.

The health benefits of unpolished, brown rice outweigh those of white rice, as its whole grain provides more fiber, iron, B vitamins and other nutrients. (There are 1.5 grams of fiber per half cup of brown rice-almost three times the fiber in the same amount of white rice.)

  3. Hi Carl, I love what you've done with your blog too!! It looks great! Thank you for your message, I'm glad I've been able to express my experiences of the south well! :) The Adirondack Moutains sound amazing! I would love to visit them one day! There are so many places I want to go! I hope you are doing well, and I gotta tell ya, brown rice (next to Basmati, in my opinoion), is the BEST!!!! I always feel so much healthier when I have it instead of white!
Take care, and write again soon! :)

  4. Hi Jenny.
I'm glad you like this site. It is always a work in progress. You are so right about Basmati ! :)Bye-the-way...The Adirondack Mountains are considered to be very old mountains that are rounded on the top unlike the Rockies with their sharp peaks. In the fall of the year they are a cascade of color that was actually named "most Scenic" in the US one year.
It is always so nice to get your notes. :) Sorry that you have been under the weather. Hope you are feeling a little better now.
Stay out of the heat if you can :)
    Warm regards,
    Carl

  5. Hi Carl, I know what you mean, I've seen that picture everywhere, epecially lately! It's a great shot! I am feelig much better, thank you! The heat is still kind of brutal here, but we're staying mostly inside. It's unfortunate, though because we miss the outdoors! I hope you are doing well and that it is nice where you are! :)

    ~Jennie
