Welcome To Our New Medical - Pharmaceutical Library

The Grand Opening Of Our New Library

Medical Research Made Easy

In this day and age it has become most important to be an active participant in our own healthcare. The best way to do this and to make good choices is to be well informed. There are so many health sites that make our searches confusing, to say the least.

At some point in your life, you will probably have to consider having an operation or develop other health issues. The good news is—the more you know about what to expect, the better your surgical outcome or treatment will be; and the more satisfied you'll be with your results! That goes for any type of procedure or treatment you may have, from cataract removal, to a gallbladder operation or a prostatectomy.
For this reason I have compiled the best medical sites possible;for those of us with no formal medical training as well as the professional provider.

I was able to distill my search down to 6 wonderful databases. My selection criterion was as follows:

1- The comprehensive nature of the information provided
2- User friendly or ability to access information easily
3- Organization
4- Loading quality
5- Unique benefits to using the site
6- They must be established, medical/pharmaceutical data bases
7- They must be Free

The data bases are outlined in the posts below and can be found permanently listed on the side bar of this site. For easy access each icon is connected to the proper database. Just click the icon and experience "Medical Research Made Easy"

  1. Bien dicho,Carl.

  5. Thanks, Carl.

I'm pessimistic about the new health care bill because it doesn't include the public option. The PO is supposed to help cut costs. If we could prevent the money people (lobbyists) from infiltrating Congress, maybe we could get a real health care bill passed.

  6. This is really a great idea - people as a general rule do not understand health care and it's complex workings; simply because there is a lack of easy to understand information out there. If an easy to navigate database is available maybe people will have a better understanding of how things work in health care and overall have a better experience.

  8. Hi Lauren,
I agree I but think we will never see our goverment without special intrest or lobbyists or some form or sort.It seems that their is no one that represents all of the people..only their district or state..their agenda is to keep their job.I think i could go on and on but i will spare you that :)
Thanks for dropping in ;. Do you like the new library? If you have any suggestions let me know. I am always open.

  11. Carl,

The new library is great. Can you add a link for other diseases, like MS, which I have, albeit benign? Also, I signed up on a mailing list for focus groups meeting in Hartford, CT since they pay for participating in the groups. They just sent me a notice for a focus group on people with diabetes. I'll include the link in case you have an interest. They pay $100. http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/GSYPVL5

Thanks for your suggestion. I have included a link to the National Mulltiple Sclerosis Society.
I looked at quite a few sites and this looked the most user friendly. It is very well put together with a singular focus.
Also nice tip on the survey..:) thanks
