Welcome To Our New Medical - Pharmaceutical Library

The Grand Opening Of Our New Library

Medical Research Made Easy

In this day and age it has become most important to be an active participant in our own healthcare. The best way to do this and to make good choices is to be well informed. There are so many health sites that make our searches confusing, to say the least.

At some point in your life, you will probably have to consider having an operation or develop other health issues. The good news is—the more you know about what to expect, the better your surgical outcome or treatment will be; and the more satisfied you'll be with your results! That goes for any type of procedure or treatment you may have, from cataract removal, to a gallbladder operation or a prostatectomy.
For this reason I have compiled the best medical sites possible;for those of us with no formal medical training as well as the professional provider.

I was able to distill my search down to 6 wonderful databases. My selection criterion was as follows:

1- The comprehensive nature of the information provided
2- User friendly or ability to access information easily
3- Organization
4- Loading quality
5- Unique benefits to using the site
6- They must be established, medical/pharmaceutical data bases
7- They must be Free

The data bases are outlined in the posts below and can be found permanently listed on the side bar of this site. For easy access each icon is connected to the proper database. Just click the icon and experience "Medical Research Made Easy"

If you have comments, concerns, suggestions,or wish to include other subject matter, please leave me feedback
here in the comment section or email me at

Worst Cheeseburger on the Fast food Market

Worst Cheeseburger with Everything

Wendy’s Double with Everything and Cheese

700 calories

40 g fat (17 g saturated, 2 g trans)

1,440 mg sodium

In the pantheon of fast-food burgers, this cannot compete with the atrocities wrought by the Double Whoppers and Six Dollar Burgers of the world. But there are too many burgers at Wendy’s to end up with this mistake.
Take the Double Stack  with small chili—for example. With 37 grams of protein and 6 grams of fiber, it might be the most satisfying $2 meal in America.

Diabetes Type 1 Diabetes Type 2 Diabetes

Many years ago, I had a good friend who suffered from psoriasis and (I am a ashamed to admit) I remember thinking at the time that it could not be a particularly serious condition because it didn't seem to worry her a great deal.

Having just read through 'Natural treatments for psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis' which (perhaps not surprisingly) is a book that focuses on treating psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis naturally, I fully accept that I clearly had no idea what I was talking about!

For example, although my impression of psoriasis was not much more than a skin complaint characterized by unpleasant looking red skin lesions (known as plaques), I have now learned that psoriasis can in fact be far more serious than I ever imagined previously. And as perhaps as many as one in every three people who suffer from psoriasis will go on to suffer crippling psoriatic arthritis, the size and severity of the psoriasis problem is obviously far greater than I realized back then.

So, shame for my ignorance is the order of the day, and I duly comply!

There are five different types of psoriasis that people can suffer from and one of them - Erythrodermic psoriasis - can leave victims looking and suffering as if they have been in a dreadful fire. Perhaps not surprisingly therefore, this particular form of psoriasis can be fatal in the most extreme examples, so clearly, psoriasis can be far more serious than I (and I imagine most non-sufferers) could ever imagine or contemplate.

Fortunately, four out of every five psoriasis sufferers is a victim of the least serious form of the condition, psoriasis vulgaris, which means that their condition is never likely to be life-threatening. However, as it is characterized by angry red plaques that are almost always itchy, irritating and often prone to cracking and bleeding, it is not a condition that is particularly pleasant or enjoyable either.

There are of course many widely prescribed medical solutions for all forms of psoriasis (and also for psoriatic arthritis), and depending upon the severity of your condition, it may be necessary to use drug-based medicines or seek other medical attention.

On the other hand, for the fortunate majority, natural treatments are widely available and surprisingly effective as is made clear in a book (with an extremely self-explanatory title) called 'Natural treatments for psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis'.

As you would expect, this book highlights many different ways that you can treat varying degrees and types of psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis in a completely natural way, detailing the best way of using the treatments and why they work as well as they do.

As with any medical condition, it is always best to attempt to deal with psoriasis or psoriatic arthritis naturally before resorting to chemical-based pharmaceuticals, with this book representing a compendium of all of the best 'Natural treatments for psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis' that people all over the world are currently using.

If therefore you are a psoriasis sufferer, there will undoubtedly be something of great value for you in 'Natural treatments for psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis.

There is more than one way to skin a cat!

It has been a known fact that the women in a relationship, a wife, a mother, girlfriend, or sisters are the ones that push and prod their male loved ones to see a doctor for that pain, to eat more greens, to get more exercise,  to go get that eye test, go to the dentist etc…..All the pushing and prodding out of love is an attempt to find a way to motivate their hubbie to take better care of himself so he will be around a little longer. This is a primary reason why married men are healthier, in general, and tend to live longer.

There is always more than one way to skin a cat, as they say. Going for the sure thing with us guys an ingenious wife and mother developed this little chart. Above is an eye chart "Just for Men" . One motivator down ladies..nice going!

Did you know that a common reason for headaches and irritability is due to eye strain from out dated prescription glasses?

Thank You Wendy

Thank You for becoming a Carlsvilleproject Contributor.

I consider Wendy to be a friend, although we have never really met. She continues to reach out  with her messages, to touch people as she can, and to find her own way as her present recovery from cancer promises to be a long, arduous journey.
Never-the-less with pauses in her communication and the support of her many friends she continues to maintain a positive and wonderful spirit. Wendy is full of humanity and provides a kind word for anyone who would be in need of support. She lives the following definition of "life" which is: “The purpose of life is a life with purpose.” In the spirit of this creed we have published a portion of Wendy’s most recent post.
Carl

Wendy:
Just finished watching the movie Prairie Giant, a made-for-TV movie about the life of Tommy Douglas. Wow, what a great movie! Every Canadian should watch this film, and probably every North American, come to think of it.

When Baptist preacher Tommy Douglas (Michael Therriault) takes up his new post in the Canadian province of Saskatchewan in 1930, he's dismayed by the injustice he sees. Soon, his desire to address the problems drives him to take his message beyond the pulpit. This drama tells the true story of how the beloved Canadian reformer went from being a parish pastor to leading the first socialist government in North America (as premier of Saskatchewan).

Tommy Douglas (1904 – 1986) is the founder of Canadian Medicare. Tommy's daughter is Shirley Douglas, Shirley married Canadian actor Donald Sutherland, and their famous son is Kiefer Sutherland.

Prairie Giant is a wonderful chronicling of the political fight Tommy pursued to ensure all Canadians had access to free health care. He was a Baptist pastor, but had to resign when the denominational heads told him he could not be a pastor and a politician simultaneously.

Contrast that with Michael Moore's movie, Sicko. Moore's documentary focuses on the greed of the HMOs - Health Maintenance Organizations - and the absolute misery they allow to happen to their members.

Of course, Canada and the States have very strong ideas about each others' medical systems. Americans seem to hear horror stories about Canadians and their socialized medicine, while Canadians hear the sheer awfulness of their victimized neighbors-to-the-south and the despicable practices of these health insurance companies. Any Americans or Canadians care to comment below or clear up some of the myths surrounding either system?

I, for one, will forever go on the record as being grateful for socialized medicine. Even though there are many obvious flaws in our system, and even though doctors in Quebec in particular do not get anything close to a fair deal from our provincial government, I cannot tell you what an enormous relief it is to be receiving free health services at such a time as this.

“We are all in this world together, and the only test of our character that matters is how we look after the least fortunate among us. How we look after each other, not how we look after ourselves. That’s all that really matters, I think.”

Tommy Douglas

It is bad enough to be faced with constant health concerns, without having to worry about bills, payment deadlines and the like.

And so, while Kiefer Sutherland is a famous actor and gets lots of notoriety, it's his grandfather tonight that I am celebrating, and tonight I am thanking God for His humble, persistent servant Tommy Douglas, who took pity on the plight of the sick and the dying and who, at great personal cost, pushed for Medicare until he saw victory in the political arena, and saw Medicare established on a federal level. From the bottom of my heart, thank you, Tommy!
Sincerely,
Wendy

Lunch Counter Consideration

Colon Protection

Adding cauliflower florets to your weekly diet may give you an extra measure of colon protection. Research has shown that a natural compound found in cauliflower may inhibit the propagation of cancer cells in the colon. Be sure to skip the cheese sauce with the cauliflower, because it is loaded with saturated fats. Instead, steam the cauliflower and spice it up with olive oil and lemon or use low-fat yogurt for dipping raw cauliflower

OMG-----Joke For The Day

A man was beaten up by robbers on a road to London. He lay there, half dead and in bad shape. A Vicar came along, saw him and passed by on the other side. Next, a monk came by but also walked quickly on the other side. Finally, a Social Worker came along, looked at the man and said

"Whoever did this needs help!"
